"Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.” Romans 12:4-5
As Christians, we are members of God's household (Ephesians 2:19) called to function, participate, and minister in a particular place within the body of Christ. A healthy body requires that each member do its part well. A healthy church requires the same: members that are sacrificially committed and well-equipped to do the works of service that God has prepared in advance for us to do (Ephesians 2:10; 4:12). The L2 Church holds its members in high regard. Members function as the primary missionaries of the gospel to the culture. God, in His sovereignty, placed us in this city, among these people, in this century, for a reason (Acts 17:26-27).
"The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ […] Now you are the body of Christ." I Corinthians 12:12, 27
L2 members are missionaries who live, eat, and breathe the climate of this city everyday, placed in the culture to emulate Jesus in our homes, marriages, families, schools, and workplaces. Corporately, we are called to be ambassadors of Christ (2 Corinthians 5:20), to share and live the gospel to those whom God has placed in our lives. Members also serve in innumerable ways with significant impact within the church: during Sunday worship services, as Community Group leaders, in Children’s Ministry, as Capstone teachers, on prayer teams, offering support to the sick and needy, showing hospitality, and on and on.
“Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.” Galatians 6:10
Being a member of The L2 Church is really about being part of a family. More than attendance at meetings, members who enter into a covenant with their local church are called to a higher degree of responsibility and service. At the same time, the elders and deacons are covenanted to assist members first and foremost, to love and lead, provide counsel and aid, as well as to pray for, teach, and guide. The church is only as strong as the families on which it is founded. Therefore, special pastoral emphasis is placed on member care to see individuals and families mature and thrive in their calling and gifting at L2.
To transition from a regular attendee to an official member of L2 we require that you sign the following covenant/affirmation of faith.
