L2 began in June of 1992. Originally, the small congregation of 40 met at a high school in Littleton, but moved to a church in Englewood in 1993. In 1995, the church moved to its current location on East Colfax Avenue, one of the city’s newest urban redevelopment areas.
From its inception, the church has been anchored by several key themes apparent within the time-tested pages of the Bible. Mainly, we believe in the authority of the Bible as the very word of God and in its sufficiency in providing all the instruction and revelation we need concerning life and a saving relationship with Jesus.
But in 2005, we realized that we were failing. We were failing our city, our people, and our Lord. We had become an insular body, one who arrived at church on-time every Sunday and Wednesday, one who sang hymns of praise to the Lord who commanded us to preach the word to all peoples, one who spent so much time at church that we didn’t know our neighbors.
We began to make changes that realized the potential of our downtown location and the uniqueness in the diversity of our congregation. We do not hail from any particular neighborhood or any particular part of the metro area. We meet in the heart of a city, in a building where the needs of many are evident right outside our front door. As we grow in number and in faith, we go forth from that door, committed to helping Christians make a difference in our community.
In the summer of 2006, we decided that we needed a name change to reflect our new start. That's when we became L2: Life to the Second Power. Since that time, our church attendance has grown by almost 400%. We as a church body want to continue to be used by God to impact the city of Denver and it's culture with the truth.
